WINDEA care

Medical care in the offshore wind farms is becoming increasingly important. WINDEA care is a holistic and practical approach to health care from a single source. Appropriate help can be provided from minor illnesses that can be diagnosed and treated via telemedicine, to life-threatening injuries and difficult rescue situations. To provide these comprehensive services, experienced and established professionals are working together as close partners. Various companies contribute to the interdisciplinary and unique knowledge base in the areas of medicine, rescue services, nautical sciences, aviation and wind energy:

The Unique Characteristics:

  • Dedicated rescue helicopter with extensive medical facilities
  • Emergency doctor who is permanently available at the rescue helicopter
  • Helicopter based in St. Peter-Ording, thus short flight times to the wind farms
  • Medical Rescue Coordination Centre which is constantly staffed by paramedics and navigators
  • Paramedics take turns working in the coordination centre and on the helicopter, hence they are experts on both sides of the rescue chain
  • Paramedics are also trained for height rescue operations
  • Medical management by a university hospital, ensuring the required medical emergency expertise and the continuous further development of therapeutic methods.
  • In the case that the helicopter cannot fly due to adverse weather conditions, an alternative transport route by ship is planned in advance for each wind farm.
